Kucinich on the Passage of the Stimulus Package

Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) today made the following statement on the passage of H.R. 1, The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act:
“This bill is an important down payment to get us out of this recession. The bill is not perfect: it is not large enough to replace lost gross domestic product. But it lays a foundation of targeted government spending that will create millions of jobs and protect the families who have suffered most by this economic crisis.
“The bill also helps a neglected victim of the foreclosure crisis—neighborhoods. The bill provides an additional $2 billion dollars to the Neighborhood Stabilization Program to deal with foreclosed vacant and abandoned houses. This money will create jobs, prevent crime and protect property values of surrounding homeowners. ”
