Subject: Advice to the wise

My morning news read this very morning has uncovered two most interesting  and very short articles.

The first, I will paraphrase here and it may be as long as the original. Food processors such as Kellogg, Sara Lee, ConAgra and others are anticipating a whopping increase for their products in the near term. My suggestion, stock up as much as you can now.

As if that is not enough let me draw your attention to the banking matters. We have entered a 90 day window that computer linguistics prediction programs are predicting a total economic collapse before the end of the year. More banks will fail! If you don't believe this and believe me to be a doom and gloomer I refer you to the FDIC website. The last sentence on that very very short page pretty much states what they anticipate. More failures.

Also, if you have great faith in your insured bank accounts because of FDIC consider what has been reported by IndyMAC customers in California last week. To paraphrase, they were issued checks, that would not be accepted by other banks up to 60 days. In other words, the checks would not be deposited in another bank's records for 60 days. Meaning if you were counting on getting your money to use you are going to have to wait for 60 more days. Hmm? How many of us can go 60 days?  I suggest you keep only in the bank what you need to cover checks or debits that you incur. Keep cash as the old timers did somewhere safe. They used the mattress, don't use that.

After I read that I had to wonder why 60 days? More bank failures in that time? Or does the FED have to print more money to cover that loss? Either or both are logical explanations at this point.

Sorry if this doesn't make your day. I send this to my friends for one reason, I don't want you to get caught with your pants down. Somebody has to watch the hen house and I am. Help yourself prepare, it's time to get ready ... again!
