like after exploding an atomic bomb. It was horrible”, says Miroslav Skvarek from the Children Anti-tuberculosis Sanatorium in Dolny Smokovec. About 50 children were trapped in the hospital and waited hours for help.

The situation in Slovakia is an emergency, Agriculture Minister Zsolt Simon said at a news conference in Tatranska Lomnica on Saturday. According to preliminary estimates from the TANAP state forestry company, the damaged coniferous forest amounts to about 2.5 million cubic meters of softwood which represents 90 percent of the annual extraction in this category of wood in Slovakia. Because of this, the minister with immediate effect ordered a halt to all planned softwood extraction activity throughout Slovakia. "This emergency situation requires these extraordinary measures," he said. At the same time, he with immediate effect issued a ban for citizens to enter forests with the exception of people employed to do forestry work.

Premier Dzurinda said a "nationwide effort" would be required in order to deal with the consequences of this "natural disaster". "The Tatras are a national symbol and tourist attraction, but they also stand for our cultural and natural heritage. I will therefore urge the public to be active," the PM told journalists.

The natural disaster which Slovakia's High Tatras mountains experienced after Friday's hurricane has evoked a considerable response both at home and abroad. Among those who have already promised to provide financial resources in order to alleviate the consequences of this enormous natural calamity are various companies, municipalities, NGOs, domestic political parties as well as foreign authorities.

Earth Changes Central Breaking News

November 25, 2004 Sherwood Ensey

Starting on Tuesday a lot of people from the UK and the USA started asking questions at the Earth Changes Central board about the "Fierce Storm" that whipped across parts of Europe over the weekend, and why the news was not being broadcast over their local television stations. It should be mentioned that the "Fierce Storm" came on the heels of several days of solar storms that had

been whipping the Earth beginning approximately November 10.

Two individuals from the UK wrote the following early on November 24, at the Earth Changes Central forums, after an individual from Canada wrote some information on November 23, about a storm that had recently lashed Europe. At that time details were sketchy about the storm.

"I haven't heard anything about these storms either, and I have satellite. Mind you I am not watching all the time, but we usually have sky news on in the evenings, and I haven't heard anything."

"Thank you, windwisper, for posting this news. It was, as they say, an 'extreme' event and yet it hasn't been reported on either of the two mainstream TV news channels in the UK as far as I know. It may have been on one of their 24/7 news stations, or on cable, but I don't have access to those. Does this mean that the BBC and ITV now think these occurrences are no longer exceptional? Just one more thing to make me go Hmm!!"

It has now become very apparent that a "Fierce Storm" did indeed lash parts of Europe over the weekend, and the storm was even more severe than what most could even have thought, or imagined.

Following is a picture that speaks out about the consequences of global climate change, and that large scale disasters of magnitudes never before seen are not science fiction, or something out of a movie script, they are a reality. The picture is not from the recent CBS TV movie, Category 6: Day of Destruction, or the recent FOX movie, The Day After Tomorrow; it is a picture of what remains of Slovakia after a record windstorm ravaged that area over the weekend. Additional pictures of the damage caused by the "Fierce Storm" are at the link provided underneath the picture.
