Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s crowning achievement was supposed to be her “Green New Deal”.

But the New York socialist has since run into some major headwinds as she tries to push her radical agenda on the rest of the country.

And now her plans are falling to pieces because of one thing.

When she was first elected to Congress last November, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez rocked the nation.

After stunning an establishment Democrat in an upset primary election that summer, Ocasio-Cortez stormed into Washington with a large following of socialist activists who were ready to defend her every move.

But Ocasio-Cortez can’t even rely on them to defend her bogus “Green New Deal”.

The plan, which was widely mocked for its sophomoric rollout and ridiculous commitments, including eliminating air travel and providing welfare for those “unwilling to work”, continues to fall apart.

And now, the biggest test the Green New Deal has yet to face is proving just how much of a disaster it is to the rest of the country.

The Daily Caller reports, “Cities and states actually trying to implement these [Green New Deal] policies, however, are often finding it difficult to overcome political and economic realities.”

Among just a few cases where the Green New Deal has already been attempted, the results have been an unmitigated catastrophe of epic proportions.

In Washington State, voters have twice rejected a tax on carbon dioxide emissions, in the same mold as Ocasio-Cortez’s Green New Deal.

In Texas, one town attempted to convert to 100% renewable energy, again in the same mold as the Green New Deal.

This town was even showcased in Al Gore’s film “An Inconvenient Sequel”.

But the push to completely abandon fossil fuels ended up costing the city over $30 million in the past five years. The town is now hiking utility bills to pay for the disastrous policy.

In California, high-speed rail projects are being canceled by the state’s Democratic governor because of the outrageous $77 billion cost. It’s currently costing taxpayers in California over $89 million to construct just one mile of high-speed rail.

This is the future Ocasio-Cortez has in store for America.

And this future increasingly seems to be politically disastrous.

Not only is her Green New Deal failing miserably anywhere its attempted, but the costs that are being imposed on taxpayers are outrageous.

Ocasio-Cortez may still be holding out hope that her radical proposal will become law one day, but the realities on the ground from across the country paint an entirely different picture.

The Green New Deal is failing in states as red as Texas, and as blue as California.

While Ocasio-Cortez is pushing her plan in Washington, states and localities across the country are repudiating it.

Across the political divide, the data is clear that Ocasio-Cortez’s “Green Dream” as Speaker Nancy Pelosi puts it, is nothing short of a fantasy.
