Dear Linda Moulton Howe:

I enjoyed your report and images on the 12,000 year old Gobeki Tepe temple excavated in Turkey.  Truly fascinating.  I thought you might find the map below interesting as well.  Thanks for sharing.

"Aram Damascus was the most important of the Aramean kingdoms in the 9th-8th centuries BC.  The mountainous area of the Syrians was truly the "roof" of the region as the name "Aram' implies.  The mountains of Lebanon extended for nearly a hundred miles."                                                Resource: bible-history.com

It's interesting to note that the Gobekli Tepe temple was found in present-day Turkey, just north of the Syrian border-- but the country of Turkey did not exist 12,000 years ago.  If I am not mistaken, the ancient map above shows that the temple was erected in the ancient land of Aram.  Aram was a country of southwest Asia, roughly coextensive with present-day Syria.

Also, did you notice the "H" on the column below?  Hmmm, I wonder whose initial this represents.
