I received the message below from Mercy Chefs, Grassfire's disaster-relief partner, late yesterday. The situation in Panama City, Florida, is among the worst Chef Gary LeBlanc and his team have ever seen. Mercy Chefs is ramping up their operations and will be able to serve up to 18,000 meals per day soon. When that happens, they'll need all the financial help they can get. Yesterday, I asked Grassfire Nation to sponsor 10,000 emergency meals THIS WEEKEND. Please see below for more information, or click here to help Mercy Chefs feed body and soul today. Steve

Subject: The devastation is unbelievable.

Friday afternoon:

Dear Steve,

I want to share the latest from the Florida panhandle. The need here is huge. Hurricane Michael has left us speechless. The devastation is unbelievable. I can't really put the scale of the destruction we've seen into words. There's mile after mile of "blown-up" homes and businesses. It will take months for power to be fully restored. Some of the victims may never recover fully.

The church has suffered some damage, but the surrounding area is in pretty good shape. It's a solid staging area for meals to go out. We're hoping to get meals to Mexico Beach this afternoon and will prepare and serve dinner tonight. Another church, Calvary Chapel Panama City Beach, also wants to help with food delivery. We will utilize them to carry meals into the hardest-hit areas.

Mercy Chefs' largest kitchen, "Mercy 3" (also known as "The Beast"), is on its way to the Florida panhandle from Virginia and should arrive on site tomorrow. We want to place it closer to the worst of the destruction. Our goal is find a second deployment site in one of the areas that's been completely destroyed. We want to get "The Beast" in the middle of the worst-hit community, where it can do the most good.

With that second kitchen, we'll have the potential to prepare and serve 18,000 meals a day here. But to do that, we need the kind of support we saw after hurricanes struck Texas, Florida and Puerto Rico last year. That's why I'm asking every Mercy Chefs supporter to get behind us on this deployment.

We prepare and serve hot, comforting meals for about $2.50 each, which means a tax-deductible donation of $25 can feed 10 people in a disaster area. A $50 gift can bless 20 hurricane victims, first responders and/or volunteers THIS WEEKEND. Please pray for those who have lost so much. The people here need to feel the love of Jesus right now. You can help by standing with Mercy Chefs as we serve them warm, comforting meals. I've mentioned many times that something special happens over a shared meal. I've seen it deployment after deployment. Families come together

We're going to do everything we can to feed body and soul in the Panama City area because these people need help. But with dual deployments in Florida and South Carolina, our financial and personnel resources are stretched pretty thin. Please do what you can to help. Go here.

Thank you, in advance, for your financial and prayer support today.

Blessings,

Gary

P.S. It cost Mercy Chefs about $5,000 to move a second mobile kitchen to Florida, and our grocery bill for the first few days of this deployment will likely top $20,000. Can you please help me raise $25,000 in emergency funds THIS WEEKEND to keep our current outreach efforts in Florida AND South Carolina on track? Your tax-deductible gift of $25, $50 or even $100 today can sponsor 10, 20 or 40 hot, comforting meals this weekend.
