Hallelujah Chorus ...Alaskan Style
When I see Christmas items in the stores and hear Christmas Carols being played in October, instead of putting me in the "Christmas mood", it usually annoys me that Christmas has become so commercial. But here I am sending a Christmas-themed e-mail on Halloween!
This presentation is a most unusual 'take' on one of my Christmas favorites -- The Hallelujah Chorus! And so on a chilly Monday morning in October, when the air feels much like Christmas, I'd like to share this video from Alaska with you.
These children (and even the adults) remind me of the folks who greeted us at the tiny airport when we visited Anaktuvuk Pass, Alaska, a small Eskimo village north of the Arctic Circle and the Brooks (Mountain) Range. Those school children and grownups were happy to see us and eager to tell us about their community. They put on an interesting, informative program for us, describing their customs and their culture -- (tho' not as ambitious and choreographed as this presentation!)
Can you imagine the amount of planning and time it took to put this video together and get the timing right?

This is a short video from the small Yupiq Eskimo Village of Quinhagak, Alaska .
It is first rate and really gives a very fine picture of life in an Alaska Eskimo village.
This was a school computer project intended for the other Yupiq villages in the area.
Much to the village's shock, over a quarter of a million people have already seen the video.
