For Susan Collins, a single parent with a beautiful and healthy eight year old son, the future had never looked brighter after graduating summa cum laude with a doctorate in microbiology from UAB in Birmingham. The acceptance of a high-paying position with a government research laboratory after graduation provided the exciting opportunity to relocate to New London Connecticut, where she and her son Toby could begin a new life and be re-united with Susan’s loving sister Cathy.
Soon after their move to New London however, Susan finds herself struggling to discover the cause of a mysterious disease which suddenly attacks little Toby leaving his life hanging precariously in the balance.
