Coca Cola and Pepsi are killing the Earth!

IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUIRED TO SAVE THE PLANET!

The Obama administration adopted its climate change plan B today, formally declaring carbon dioxide a public danger so that it can cut greenhouse gas emissions even without the agreement of a reluctant Senate.

The timing of the announcement – in the opening hours of the UN's Copenhagen climate change summit – prevents Barack Obama from arriving at the talks without concrete evidence that America will do its bit to cut the emissions that cause global warming.

Carbon dioxide is used to produce carbonated soft drinks and soda water. Traditionally, the carbonation in beer and sparkling wine came about through natural fermentation, but many manufacturers carbonate these drinks artificially. In the case of bottled and kegged beer, artificial carbonation is now the most common method used.

Please stop the senseless release of Carbon Dioxide (CO2) into our Environment!

According to the United Nations and the IPCC the planet is in critical danger due to the excessive amounts of CO2 (Carbon Dioxide) being released into the atmosphere.

The executive summary of the WG I Summary for Policymakers report says they are certain that emissions resulting from human activities are substantially increasing the atmospheric concentrations of the greenhouse gases, resulting on average in an additional warming of the Earth's surface. They calculate with confidence that CO2 has been responsible for over half the enhanced greenhouse effect.

Did you know that each time you pop open a can of Coca Cola, Pepsi or Budweiser you are releasing deadly CO2 gases into the atmosphere? That's right, each can and bottle of soda, beer and champagne all are made with the deadly gas Carbon Dioxide.

Carbonated drinks

In late 18th Century, scientists made important progress in replicating naturally carbonated mineral waters. In 1767 Englishman Joseph Priestley first discovered a method of infusing water with carbon dioxide to make Carbonated water when he suspended a bowl of distilled water above a beer vat at a local brewery in Leeds, England. His invention of Carbonated water, (also known as soda water), is the major and defining component of most soft drinks. Priestley found water thus treated had a pleasant taste and he offered it to friends as a refreshing drink.

Can you believe these greedy corporations actually put CO2 in the products they sell to us? It must be a conspiracy, to have us buy more products in a warmer climate!

A carbon footprint is "the total set of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions caused by an organization, event or product" . For simplicity of reporting, it is often expressed in terms of the amount of carbon dioxide, or its equivalent of other GHGs, emitted.

We have to stop this senseless destruction of our planet!

I urge you to call or write the President and members of Congress to enact immediate legislation to stop the destruction of our environment from the unnecessary release of CO2 (Carbon Dioxide) into the atmosphere. We need the President to enact emergency powers to prevent the manufacture, distribution and use of products that release CO2 unnecessarily into the atmosphere. This would show his commitment to the Copenhagen Treaty Conference on Man Made Climate Change.

As a nation we have to be committed to preventing the manufacture and consumption of products that directly and unnecessarily destroy our environment.

Ban and boycott Carbonated Beverages Now!

We need emergency relief from deadly CO2 releasing products such as soda, beer and champagne. Every CO2 tank in the nation needs to be confiscated immediately from each fast food business, bar/restaurant, convenience store and beverage related industry. In addition, all climate destroying Carbon Dioxide plants have to be shut down immediately.

After all, what is more important bubbles in your beverage or an environmentally sustainable planet?

Coca-Cola today becomes the biggest global brand to publish the greenhouse gases produced by making, packaging, transporting, chilling, and disposing of their most popular products. The study, done with the government-funded Carbon Trust, shows a standard 330ml can of Coke embodies the equivalent of 170g of carbon dioxide (CO2e), and the same sized Diet Coke or Coke Zero 150g.

The DairyGHG model suggests that the carbon footprint of milk produced by most dairy farms is in the range of 0.5 to 0.8 kg CO2e per kg of milk.

The Carbon Trust is an independent company set up by the government in response to the threat of climate change, to accelerate the move to a low carbon economy by working with organisations to reduce carbon emissions and develop commercial low carbon technologies. Carbon Trust works with business and the public sector through its work in five complementary areas: insights, solutions, innovations, enterprises and investments. Together these help to explain, deliver, develop, create and finance low carbon enterprise. The Carbon Trust is funded by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra), the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (BERR), the Scottish Government, the Welsh Assembly Government and Invest Northern Ireland.
